Photoionization of Atoms and Molecules Using Configuration-average Distorted-wave Methods
نویسندگان
چکیده
We review the application of configuration-average distorted-wave methods to the photoionization of atoms and molecules. The configuration-average distorted-wave methods are then applied to calculate photoionization cross sections for outer and inner subshells of the C atom and the outer subshell of the C2 molecule. Comparisons are made with previous R-matrix and distorted-wave calculations.

The asymmetric unit of the title compound, Contains two independent molecules. The Cu atoms are four coordinated in distorted tetrahedral configuration by two atoms from 5,5`-dimethyl-2,2`- bipyridine and two terminal atoms. In the Cuystal structure, inter molecular hydrogen bonds link the molecules. The are contacts between the methyl groups and the pyridine and five member rings containing ...
متن کاملElectron-impact ionization of diatomic molecules using a configuration-average distorted-wave method
Electron-impact ionization cross sections for diatomic molecules are calculated in a configuration-average distorted-wave method. Core bound orbitals for the molecular ion are calculated using a single-configuration self-consistent-field method based on a linear combination of Slater-type orbitals. The core bound orbitals are then transformed onto a two-dimensional r , numerical lattice from wh...
متن کاملElectron-impact excitation and ionization of H2 + using a configuration-average distorted-wave method
A configuration-average distorted-wave method is developed to calculate electron-impact excitation and ionization cross sections for diatomic molecules and their ions. The method is based on the construction of bound and continuum orbitals on a two-dimensional numerical lattice in r , center-of-mass polar coordinates. Our first applications are the calculation of 1s →2p and 1s →2p excitation cr...

An analytical treatment of the electron screening effect within an active-electron model is given for positronium formation from helium atoms. A first-order distorted wave approximation with correct boundary conditions is applied to evaluate the transition amplitude. In the range of impact energy for which the introduced perturbative approach is valid, both the total and differential cross sect...
متن کاملCoherent imaging of an attosecond electron wave packet.
Electrons detached from atoms or molecules by photoionization carry information about the quantum state from which they originate, as well as the continuum states into which they are released. Generally, the photoelectron momentum distribution is composed of a coherent sum of angular momentum components, each with an amplitude and phase. Here we show, by using photoionization of neon, that a tr...
